Nova Vita Wines is a family wine business started by Mark and Joanne Kozned, with the establishment of the Woodlands Ridge Vineyard in Gumeracha, South Australia in 2000. Since then it has gained a reputation for producing high quality wines that are true to the cool climate and high altitude of the Adelaide Hills region. Strong growth in demand for their wines allowed the acquisition of a second vineyard in 2008 (mainly red varieties). Their aim is to make wines which are high quality, different and express the terrior of the two sites. They allow for the preservation of the purity of the fruit through hands off wine making techniques.

The idea for the Firebird range of wines was to honour the Kozned family name and the work put in by Mark's father and mother during the establishment of their first vineyard. In Russian mythology the Firebird is sacred - those that see, hear and catch the firebird will be blessed with luck and happiness.
